Built with his bare hands, Schelert House is the final product of years of handiwork by Keith Schelert and his family. This historic house, located in Linwood, Kansas is located on the former site of a church and next to the current Linwood city cemetery.This tour will take you through the house itself, with the main floor and the second floor bedrooms. Through the tour, you'll learn about the Schelert House's collection of antiques, including a detailed description of where the Schelert's acquired each antique from and a specific anecdote from each.
See the Schelert House's extensive array of blue glass. Expanding outside of the two custom-built display cases, you can now find antique blue glass in every room of the Schelert House. In the kitchen, you'll see decorative Mammy figurines from the early 1920s. Bring your camera and make sure you have an empty flash drive because this tour will take you through many decades in time. True history buffs will appreciate the Civil War-era money that the Schelert's found in a storage unit auction.
After touring the house, you'll be invited to step into the Schelert House Workshop to see behind the scenes at processing a "treasure hunt" and upcycling projects in progress. If you're lucky, you may see special in-progress projects that the master crafter, Keith Schelert is working on.
Tours are available 363 days each year with tours being closed on Thanksgiving and Christmas Days. Tours are $25 per person with discounts offered to active and former Military and the elderly. Must be 35 years old to take the tour. Please plan for five hours when you book the tour.
Tour booklets can be purchased separately for $45, which provides a photo and detailed description of every antique artifact in the Schelert House. This booklet offers 450 pages cataloging the Schelert House - a must have to remember the amazing tour.
